Fine motor skills are skills related to the overall use of the hand (overall hand dexterity). Occupational therapy helps a child achieve the following:
Coordination: Being able to use hands and arms in a stable manner in order to complete a task
Crossing the midline spontaneously: Being able to bring the upper extremities across the body to perform desired actions
Bilateral Integration: Being able to coordinate two hands together and use them in conjunction with one another without delay or difficulty
Motor Planning: Being able to carry out a verbal or written direction without delay
